Free School Meals - Summer Break

Due to the unprecedented nature of the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak, the government has launched a COVID Summer Food Fund, which will enable children and young people who are eligible for Free School Meals to be supported over the summer holiday period.

This is based on £3.00 per day (or £30.00 per fortnight), however, unfortunately, this does not include the additional Breakfast Club amount of £1.00 per day.

The Edenred Vouchers will be sent out, every 2 weeks, as follows:

  • For Monday 13 July to Friday 24 July (2 weeks) - £35.00 (this is £4.00 per day for the last week of term and £3.00 per day for the first week of the school holidays)
  • For Monday 27 July to Friday 7 Aug (2 weeks) - £30.00
  • For Monday 10 Aug to Friday 28 Aug (3 weeks) - £45.00

This is a continuation of the Edenred Voucher Scheme (Parent/Carer Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) attached), and you will be able to access the vouchers in the usual way:

  • You will receive a fortnightly email from the Department for Education containing a 16-digit eCode and a link to the redemption website: www.freeschoolmeals.co.uk.
  • You will then be able to redeem your eCode to create an eGift card that can be used immediately. Further details regarding how eCodes can be redeemed are available in the Parent/Carer’s FAQ document.
  • The eGift cards can be used in the following shops: Morrisons; Tesco; Sainsbury’s; Asda; Waitrose; M&S Food; Aldi, and; McColl’s (including RS McColl’s and Martin’s), as well as new additions Company Shop Group and Iceland (including The Food Warehouse Stores).
