    Headteacher’s welcome

Welcome to Carshalton High School for Girls, also known as Carshalton Girls or ‘Car Girls’. We are an all-girls secondary school with a thriving Sixth Form. We are part of the Girls’ Learning Trust alongside Nonsuch High School for Girls & Wallington High School for Girls, with whom we share longstanding expertise and passion for girls-only education.

You will notice on these pages the clear emphasis we put on serving our community and creating a strong sense of belonging for all of our girls. Our value of ‘sisterhood’ demonstrates just how important this sense of togetherness is, and I judge the overall success of the school on what we achieve as a community.

We are hugely ambitious – for our site, our staff, our sporting & dance achievements, our exam results - and most importantly our students’ futures.

Our motto is ‘Be your best’. We know that there is no one single yardstick for what excellence entails. Instead, we build a safe, compassionate and high-challenge environment in which students are expected and supported to always be their best, whatever that is. Success naturally follows.

To enable this, we prioritise knowing our students. We take the time to get to know every child, using our bespoke pastoral curriculum to develop wellbeing and resilience and push the girls outside of their comfort zone into the sweet spot of growth and achievement. Our very extensive Enrichment programme – from clubs to residential trips – is carefully designed with this philosophy of personal growth in mind.

Our excellent teaching and support staff are, of course, the heartbeat of the school. Leaders here work restlessly to ensure that we have the positive and enjoyable working environment in which our staff can also grow and develop in their own careers.

I invite you to explore our website and discover more about our wonderful school. If you have any questions or would like further information, please do not hesitate to get in touch.
