Transfer to Secondary School Induction Day - Wednesday 3rd July

On Wednesday 3rd July students joining CHSG in September in Year 7 are invited to spend the day with us for a taster day.

Mrs Newman
Pastoral Officer

This is an opportunity for our new students to really begin to feel like students at the school as they attend some lessons, meet staff and students and are given important information they will need to know for September.

Students should come dressed in their Primary School uniform.  they will need to bring pens and pencils; lunch will be provided.

We are very keen at CHSG that no learning time is lost in the transition from Primary School to Secondary.  We thoroughly believe that learning should take place from the outset and that we must build on the knowledge students have gained in Year 6.  With that in mind, we would ask that all students bring their Year 6 English and Maths books with them to the Induction Day.  We will be looking at these during the day and will ensure they are given back to the students so they can take them back to their primary school. This will prove very useful in setting the standard and appropriate level of challenge for our lessons in September.

In addition, students will be given a book of their choice and login details for an online Maths programme. It is essential that students reads the book she chooses and completes a book review of it, along with completing the online Maths tasks, ready for September.

The Year 7 team and student ambassadors will meet our visitors at the school gate in the morning and will be accompanying the students throughout the day as they meet their tutor again and other girls in their class, go on a guided tour of the school and take part in activities and lessons.

Students will need to arrive at the school at 8.15am and will finish at 2.30pm when parents will be able to collect them from the front gate.

For any enquiries or queries please contact Miss Stanley, Year 7 Leader, or Mrs Gill, Year 7 Transition Coordinator. We have a dedicated email address for enquiries: year7question@chsg.org.uk which can also be used for enquiries.
