At Carshalton Girls, teachers use assessment to understand students’ strengths and areas for development. There is a consistent approach to assessment across the school. Teachers use formative assessment (while learning is happening in lessons) and summative assessment (after learning has happened in tests and exams), from which they draw conclusions about their students’ learning and inform future lessons.
