Kalpana Chawla (1962–2003) was an Indian-born astronaut and aerospace engineer who became the first woman of Indian origin to travel to space. From her early dreams in Haryana to her work at NASA, she showed extraordinary determination and vision. Though her life was cut short in the Columbia shuttle disaster, her legacy continues to inspire dreamers across the world.
Our Values:
Kalpana embodies resilience through her journey from small-town India to outer space; accountability through her precision and teamwork at NASA; community through representing global unity in science; and empowerment and sisterhood by showing girls everywhere that no dream is too high.
Our Aim:
Students in Kalpana Chawla House are encouraged to be curious, courageous, and ambitious - always reaching higher, learning from challenges, and believing that they can make the impossible possible.
