Carshalton High School for Girls

Carshalton High School for Girls

Carshalton High School for Girls is a highly successful school, judged by Ofsted in November 2017 as ‘Good’ in all categories.

Life for Learning Days

As a part of every child’s education at Carshalton High School for Girls, we promote personal wellbeing and development through a comprehensive Personal, Social, Health and Economic (PSHE) education programme.

PSHE education is the curriculum subject that gives young people the knowledge, understanding, attitudes and practical skills to live safe, healthy, productive lives and meet their full potential.

Focus Days - Tuesday 2nd and Wednesday 3rd February

As students are currently working remotely, we would like to take the opportunity to extend the time dedicated to PSHE this half term to two focused days on Tuesday 2nd and Wednesday 3rd February.

Life Beyond School

The PSHE theme for these days will be Life Beyond School within which students will explore personal development, future aspirations, in relation to education, training and employment, as well as learning about financial choices.

The learning on these two days will be a blend of online lessons and independent tasks.

On Tuesday 2nd February all students will be expected to attend online MS Teams sessions for am registration, period 1 and pm registration all led by their form tutor.

On Wednesday 3rd February all students will only need to attend an online MS Teams sessions for am registration.

Years 7-11

Students should complete:

  • at least two activities from the selection offered on our Life Beyond School task sheet, and
  • three activities from the Screen Free Challenge sheet

We feel it is important for students to choose activities which interest them and are personalised to their own aspirations and goals. We also recognise it is important for students to have screen-free-time, so we have included screen free tasks and challenges to encourage students to work on their personal development, away from their phones/laptops/computers etc.

Sixth Form

Students should complete:

  • the three sessions outlined in the sixth form booklet (see below) and
  • a selection of activities from the Screen Free Challenge Task

We feel it is important for students to choose activities which interest them and are personalised to their own aspirations and goals. We also recognise it is important for students to have screen-free-time, so we have included screen free tasks and challenges to encourage students to work on their personal development, away from their phones/laptops/computers etc.

All Students

It is important for students to reflect on what they have learnt over the course of the two days, therefore we would like the students to summarise their learning in an online worksheet and submit this to their tutor, as well as taking part in related discussions during tutor times as part of our Personal Development Programme.

We also hope that students will take the opportunity to share what they have learnt with their families and that this work will help to prompt discussions at home about their future goals.

If you would like to find out any more information regarding this event, please contact us via telephone or via email.
