Published 21/05/24Over the past few weeks we've been interviewing candidates for the Headship at Carshalton Highschool for Girls.
We are very pleased to announce formally that the Trust has appointed Peter Baumann-Winn as the new Headteacher, replacing Maurice Devenney who leaves us this summer.
An experienced teacher and senior leader, Peter is currently Deputy Head at The Kingston Academy. Previously he was Assistant Headteacher at St Marylebone School for Girls in central London.
Before moving into teaching, Peter was a solicitor working in corporate finance and banking in Canary Wharf. He graduated from the University of Edinburgh with an MA (Hons) in Philosophy & Politics.
Peter will join us in September 2024. He is very much looking forward to his new role, and we are planning for him to come into school soon after half-term to meet staff and students.

Monday 13th to Friday 19thAre you ready for the big step count challenge CHSG?!
Which House will be victorious in walking the most steps?
Which Tutor Group will win the queue-jumping passes?
Each tutor group will enter their daily total steps (up until 2.45pm each day) onto a shared spreadsheet.
So get walking: walk to school, walk around lunch and break and get those steps up.
Wear it Green Day - Thursday 16th May
Be ready to support Mental Health Awareness Week by adding an accessory to your uniform on Thursday 16th May.
50p minimum donation
All donations will go to the Mental Health Foundation.

Published 03/05/24Congratulations to our Young Enterprise students who took part in the Subsea7 competition this week.
The team went up against five other schools, and we are proud to announce that our #teamCHSG students won the Best Company Award and the Sustainable Award for their company, Jelly World.
The students worked extremely hard. They were presented with their awards by Councillor Colin Stears, the current Mayor of the London Borough of Sutton.
They will now move onto the next phase of the competition, the London Regionals taking place next week in Teddington.

Published 07/03/24We're celebrating World Book Day today. Students started the day with a slight twist to Tutor Reads this morning, with tutors sharing books they have enjoyed reading this year.
Teachers and support staff across the school have been sharing the books they 'read their way' on screens throughout the school. Students can take part in our World Book Day Cafe this afternoon to share their favourite reads, learn about each other's books and enjoy some snacks.

The idea behind the competition is to produce a piece of work that demonstrates your passion for science, in any field you choose.
The theme for science week this year is 'time' so you may wish to produce something that ties in with this theme, perhaps time travel or what is a lightyear? But the choice is yours, as long as the piece demonstrates something scientific that you have researched and produced.
Your piece of work could take the form of one of the following:
- A poster
- A model
- An interactive demo
- A video
- An article
- A 3D Model
You will need to register for the competition using the link below by Friday 8th March.
Deadline to submit the project is Monday 25th March.
Result will be announced on Thursday 28th March.
The competition is open to all students in Year 7, 8, 9 and 10 with a top prize of a £10 Amazon voucher!
The Headmaster and Directors of Science will be the judges.

Published 29/02/24What a night!
A big thank you to everyone who joined us for the CHSG 'Dance the Night Away' show. It was an amazing night showcasing our very talented #teamCHSG students.
Dance the night away was a huge success. The gates opened at 6:30pm welcoming families with smiles on their faces. Dance styles ranged from contemporary to cultural dances. The lighting complemented the costumes, which were embellished with sequins and jewels with fun and vibrant colours. Everyone felt included and involved and was inspired by all the other group dances on the stage. Every dance lit up the stage and wowed the audience. Thank you to all the dancers that took part and made the show a hit and also thank you to Mr Boulter and Miss Gravenor for the lighting and all the staff behind the scenes. And lastly, a huge thank you to Miss Mitchell for all your amazing choreography and for putting the entire show together.
