Every year we ask new colleagues to our school to tell us their first impressions on joining our team and this is what they had to say:
Having visited a few schools around London, I was struck by how spacious and light CHSG was, with the big Victorian windows. The traditional wooden handrails and floor tiles gave the place character. The facilities in the English Dept were excellent - the whiteboard and the visualiser were such a gift after my training year experience! The staff are friendly and down-to-earth, even the senior leaders. They are confident about what they do and proud of their school which makes them good to work with. Colleagues would pop in to see how I was doing, which I really appreciated. I started popping into their rooms too.
Catherine, English Teacher:
When you walk through the doors of the school you instantly get the feeling that all the staff and the girls are happy and successful here. The girls are friendly, respectful, ambitious, and proud of the school. I would be happy for my daughters to attend the school!
Ben, Science Teacher:
My first impressions of CHSG were how welcoming and friendly everyone was. Nothing is ever too much effort and people will always help you, you just need to ask.
Sarah, Music Teacher:
Each member of staff that I met in my first week was so friendly and welcoming. I felt so at ease asking my colleagues for support and was made to feel part of the team straight away.
Michelle, Support colleague
Staff have their own welcome party so they can connect with other new staff who possibly are also feeling nervous in their new working environment. Everyone is made to feel valued and the SLT breakfast is another fine example of how far they will go to make this happen so it’s not just lip service but a real effort to help everyone come together and become part of #teamchsg.
