Carshalton High School for Girls

Carshalton High School for Girls is a highly successful school, judged by Ofsted in January 2023 as ‘Good’ in all categories.

Early Closure Mon 18th, Tues 19th & Weds 20th July

Due to the weather forecast school will finish at 1pm on Monday 18th and Tuesday 19th July.

We have continued to monitor the weather for next week and in light of the forecast high temperatures for Monday 18th July and Tuesday 19th July along with the amber warnings of extreme heat, we will be finishing slightly earlier than normal on these days in order to maintain the wellbeing of our students.

School will finish at 1pm on both days. Students will be taught periods 1 to 4 as normal, have break and a twenty-minute lunchbreak and will then be dismissed by tutors at 1pm.  Work will be set on MS Teams for P4 and P5 for students to complete when they get home.  There will be no co-curricular activities on both days.

Unfortunately will also have to cancel both the Sports Day and Summer Concert on Monday 18th July.  We will attempt to reschedule these events in the new academic year.

On Wednesday 20th July we will host our ‘Big Conversation’ event on the field.  This is an opportunity for the whole school, staff and students, to get together to chat, play games and socialise with each other.  We would like to invite students to bring blankets, board games, sun cream and a hat if they wish as the weather looks set to be warm, albeit much cooler than today.  We will ensure that all students have a filled water bottle with them before they go onto the field.  Should it rain then students will return to their period 5 lesson. We will release all students at the end of period 5 and so the school day will end at 2.35pm.

We hope this will be an enjoyable way to end the term and a nice chance for all the year groups to mix.
