This summer's CHSG Food Bank Collection Drive has got off to a flying start! Year 7 & 8 have been very generous with their donations, whilst trying to out-do each other's box decorations, and these have been gratefully received by our local charities in Sutton. We must also say a huge thank you to Tracey Collins for delivering the donation boxes every Friday since the collection drive started this June. This week we are looking forward to receiving donations from Year 9 and Year 10 & 12 will donate their contributions in a week's time.
Thank you to tutors and staff for all your support with this collection drive! Your donations and those of your tutees have already gone and will continue to go a very long way in helping those in need in our local community.
Winners of the best decorated boxes will be announced at the end of June!
Sutton Night Watch picked up half of year 8’s food donations.
Other half was given to Carshalton Little Food Cupboard below.

Dear Parents / Carers
You will be aware that the National Education Union (NEU) has announced the next strikes will take place on Wednesday 5th and Friday 7th July 2023.
On Wednesday 14th June, week our Year 12 Psychology students went on the annual departmental trip to the Freud Museum. They had an opportunity to learn about the fascinating story behind Freud's arrive in London. After our visit we enjoyed the fantastic weather, with a picnic in the historic Green Park.
Year 7 Literacy Catch Up celebrated the end of their programme today. Both 6th Reading Mentors and Year 7 Readers spent some time thanking each other and wishing each other the best for the future.
Year 7 Readers gave their mentors the book 'Stay Happy While You Study' (a book about prioritising wellbeing at university) and 6th Formers gave the gift of 'You're Never Too Small to Make a Difference' by Greta Thunberg. It's been wonderful to see students from lower and upper school build friendships over reading.
Year 8 and Year 9 Parents' Consultations are now available to book via our online booking system.
Our School Fund empowers our school community to voluntarily support our extra curricula enrichment programme, and to help improve our facilities further.

International Women’s Day
Over the course of this half term we have been teaching students about International Women’s Day (IWD)and organising events to celebrate the globally recognised day on Wednesday 8th March.
We have celebrated the IWD 2023 campaign theme #EmbraceEquity and ensured that our students understand the difference between equity and equality. As a school we #EmbraceEquity. We recognise that each of our students have a different set of circumstances and starting points and we allocate our resources to support individuals to drive success for all. We embrace diversity, and we embrace inclusion and it is important that our students understand this too.
During the week commencing Mon 6th March year group assemblies were led by Mrs Driver, Assistant Headteacher. These assemblies focused on International Women’s Day #EmbraceEquity and introduced students to some inspirational women who have made significant change in the UK over recent years, such as Professor Sarah Gilbert, the woman behind the Oxford Covid-19 vaccine and founder of the #FreePeriods campaign, Amika George, who’s goal was to get the government to provide free sanitary products to school children from disadvantaged backgrounds. The assembly also encouraged students to champion women in their every day lives and consider future opportunities to stand-up for women’s rights.
On Monday 6th March Miss Cook ran a House Competition after school in B9 where students designed campaigns for gender equality.
In tutor time on Wednesday 8th March students were given the opportunity to write a thank-you/kindness postcards to significant women in their lives. Sixth form students also completed pledge cards to share their commitment to embracing equity. Also on Wednesday 8th March, CHSG staff made pledge’s to show their support for International Women’s day, focusing on the theme of #EmbraceEquity. Additionally, during lesson time, subject teachers introduced students to important women in their fields of study.
On Tuesday 21st March (Personal Development Day 3) students in years 7-11 will receive a lesson focusing on the UN International Women’s Day campaign: “DigitALL: Innovation and technology for gender equality”. This lesson will explore the persistent gender gap in digital technology and women’s underrepresentation in STEM education and careers. Encouraging students to explore ways that we can
