    • A Level Results Day Information

      Published 18/07/24

      THURSDAY 15th AUGUST 2024
      8:00am
UCAS Track will be updated at about 8.00am and this will show your daughter the status of their university application. Students should make sure they have their login details to hand!

      8:30am
Year 13 results will be available for collection from the Hall (no earlier than 8:30am due to the embargo on results before that time). Members of staff will be on hand to give help and advice to students who do not get the grades they need for either their Firm or Insurance choices.

Students need to come to school with all the necessary contact information (see bullet points 1 and 2 below). They should bring a fully charged phone, in case they have not secured the grades required for their Firm or Insurance choices of university and need to do some research.

Please remember, results can only be handed to a representative of the student if prior written authorisation has been given by the student and submitted to Ms Maybury, our Examinations Officer. Results cannot be given by telephone.

      Post Examination Services
Ms Maybury and the Sixth Form Team will be available on the day to offer guidance on any reviews of marking or access to scripts. A student consent form (available on the day) must be submitted with each post-exam service request. Payment will be made on ParentPay.

      Service Cost
      Script copy £5
      Clerical re-check per component £10
      Review of marking £50
      Priority review of marking £60

The result of any review of marks is final: please be aware that your daughter’s grade could go down.

Therefore, a review should only be considered if her paper is 1 or 2 marks below the higher grade boundary.

Where a review results in a higher grade, you can request a refund from the school, as this will not be charged by the exam board.

    • GCSE Results Day Information

      Published 17/07/24

The GCSE results day will take place on Thursday 22nd August, and we look forward to celebrating with our students and congratulating them on their achievements and will offer support and guidance on their next academic steps.

Students will be able to collect their results from our main school hall between 9am and 10.30am and should enter in via the main school entrance. Parents and carers are welcome to accompany their child if they wish.

When students receive their results’ envelopes and have met the requirements for their sixth form subject choices, they should proceed to the Sixth Form Enrolment zone where a member of staff will confirm their place. If a student wishes to take up their place with us but has decided to change their subjects, they just need to indicate their new subject choices and speak to a member of the Sixth Form team who will check that the subject-specific entry criteria has been met. We will have many Heads of Department and Senior Leaders available should students and parents wish to talk through option choices. To ensure a smooth transition to Year 12 we request that students continue to work on their bridging work throughout the summer.

Should your child not have secured a place in our Sixth Form we will have Mrs Phelps-Gardiner on hand in the Careers zone to offer advice and support on their next steps.

If you haven’t applied for the CHSG Sixth Form and would like to be considered, please see Miss Ishola and Mrs Norman at the desk or email: bnorman@carshaltongirls.org.uk

We are required to collect data on students’ post 16 destinations and so students must complete an MS Form survey before they leave. We will have QR codes on display for those wishing to do this on their phones and some laptops available otherwise.

We hope this day will be a joyful celebration for all the hard work that the students have put in over the years and hope to see lots of smiling faces in our celebration zone, where we would like to take photos.

We really look forward to seeing your child on the 22nd August but should you know in advance that they will not be available, then please email our Exams Officer, Mrs Maybury, rmaybury@carshaltongirls.or.uk and we can arrange to have the results emailed to you, but this will not be until after 11am.

If you have any questions or queries at this stage, please do not hesitate to get in touch. We would like to take this opportunity to wish you and your child a relaxing summer break and wish them all the success they deserve on Results Day.

    • New Headteacher Appointed

      Published 21/05/24

Over the past few weeks we've been interviewing candidates for the Headship at Carshalton Highschool for Girls.

We are very pleased to announce formally that the Trust has appointed Peter Baumann-Winn as the new Headteacher, replacing Maurice Devenney who leaves us this summer.

An experienced teacher and senior leader, Peter is currently Deputy Head at The Kingston Academy. Previously he was Assistant Headteacher at St Marylebone School for Girls in central London.

Before moving into teaching, Peter was a solicitor working in corporate finance and banking in Canary Wharf. He graduated from the University of Edinburgh with an MA (Hons) in Philosophy & Politics.

Peter will join us in September 2024. He is very much looking forward to his new role, and we are planning for him to come into school soon after half-term to meet staff and students.

Congratulations to our Young Enterprise students who took part in the Subsea7 competition this week.

The students worked extremely hard. They were presented with their awards by Councillor Colin Stears, the current Mayor of the London Borough of Sutton.

They will now move onto the next phase of the competition, the London Regionals taking place next week in Teddington.

Below is a write-up of the journey so far by one of the team members.

    • Year 8 Options Evening 2024

      Published 16/04/24

Year 8 had an assembly in which the Options process was introduced and explained. We understand that there is a lot of information to take in, so all the key messages and information are also contained in the attached Options Booklet, which also gives an overview of the Key Stage 4 curriculum, the Options process and details about all subjects. Your child will also be given a hard copy to bring home for ease of reference. Please read this carefully as it will provide insight into the components of each specification before those all-important choices are made.

We ask that you and your child carefully consider these choices and select subjects that are as balanced as possible but also meet her strengths and aspirations. We will endeavour to meet the choices of each individual student, but unfortunately, this cannot always be guaranteed. The viability of any course is dependent upon the number of students who select it and the staffing available to us.

The next key date in the process is the Options Evening on Thursday 18th April from 5.30 pm to 7.30 pm. This evening, there will be a presentation explaining the Options process, which will take place at the start of the evening and will be repeated at 7.00 pm, so you can be flexible about your arrival time. The evening will also allow you to meet and hear from leaders of option subjects. The Options Form will be available on Friday 19th April.

On behalf of all the CHSG staff, I look forward to welcoming you to the school on Options Evening.

      Kind regards,

      Mr Sambrook
      Deputy Headteacher
