    • Parent Survey

      Published 28/04/25

To continue our work on strengthening our community at CHSG, we are delighted to be giving you the opportunity to express your opinion on parent and carer engagement and your overall confidence in the school’s strategy. Our goal is to open up a communication channel where your voice is heard and organised in such a way that we can create the best learning environment for your child. To help us with this, we're working together with the Edurio survey platform.

To complete the survey, please click here: edurio.com/poll/myCJke

Surveys are completely anonymous and confidential, though the responses will be aggregated for the purpose of analysis. Please note that the survey needs to be completed in one sitting. The survey will be available until the end of the day on 14th May 2025 and the survey should take no more than 15 minutes to complete. All students will complete a student survey in the coming weeks, and we are running a competition to see which year group will have the most parent responses and, so please help your daughter’s year group win the prize by completing the survey.

Your opinion and honesty are much appreciated. If you have any questions or concerns, please be in touch.

We look forward to your feedback!

      Mrs P Durrett
      Assistant Headteacher

    • Year 8 Options

      Published 02/04/25

Year 8 had an assembly introducing and explaining the Options Process. We understand that there is a lot of information to take in. All the key messages and information are also contained in the Options Booklet below. It also contains an overview of the Key Stage 4 curriculum, the Options Process and details about all subjects. Students have also been given a hard copy to bring home for ease of reference. Please read this carefully as it will provide insight into the components of each specification before choices are made.

We ask that you and your daughter carefully consider these choices and select subjects that are balanced and meet her strengths and aspirations. We will endeavour to meet the choices of each individual student, but unfortunately, this cannot always be guaranteed. The viability of any course is dependent upon the number of students who select it and the staffing available to us.

To view subject videos and for the Year 8 Options Form, visit our Key Stage 4 options page.

    • House Writing Competition

      Published 01/04/25

This year, we launched a House Writing competition to celebrate both 2025 World Book Day and International Women's Day. The challenge was to put one of our house mascots - Kalpana Chawla, Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Audrey Hepburn and Mary Seacole - into a story genre that you wouldn't expect to find them in!

The judging panel consisted of 5 English teachers and 2 A-level English scholars (who were previous writing competition winners). It was wonderful to read all the entries and discuss their merits. We certainly have some very talented writers at CHSG! Our winners were Soumya M (Y10) and Sarah J (Y7) who both produced fabulous, imaginative stories.

Soumya's science fiction tale, 'Starlight and Shadows' was set on the spaceship Celestial Dawn, where Audrey Hepburn, the ship's cultural diplomat, must convince yet another cosmic warlord that peace and understanding can be won at very little cost to humankind.

Sarah's Audrey Hepburn in her story, 'Stardust', is suddenly transported from a Parisian café in 1961 to the year 2147. Dodging hovertrams, flying cars and drones in her heels is a big problem. But escaping Project Eternal to become a Kindness Robot is an even bigger one!

    • New CHSG House names

      Published 17/01/25

It has been a very exciting time at CHSG in terms of our houses. In the initial meeting of student council back in September, the girls expressed that they wanted to update the current house names (Red, Yellow, Blue and Green) to be named after inspirational women that embodied the school values and the qualities they want to grow in. It was vital to us that these women reflected the diversity amongst our students and represented a variety of disciplines. Both students and staff gave their feedback and the results were shared in our whole school assembly this week. Work will now begin to fully embed these new houses in school life. I am delighted to inform you that the new houses are as follows:
