As part of CHSG Book Pixies project, whose motto is ‘Take me, Read me, Leave me’, student volunteers had been dropping books into wards of the local Children's hospital and various locations in the Carshalton area.
#CHSGBookPixies dropped books outside Rushy Meadow and Tweeddale Primary Schools on their walk up to Queen Mary’s Hospital. These books are left in safe, visible places for younger children and their parents to pick up, take home and read and either keep or pass on again. At Queen Mary’s Children's Hospital #CHSGBookPixies read short stories to children in the Out Patients Waiting Room and to boys and girls in Day Surgery.
“When we arrived at the Hospital, we were led up to the waiting room in Queen Mary’s. While in the waiting room, we read to the children who were waiting for appointments. We also played table football which they really enjoyed. About half of us were there and the rest went upstairs to the ward and they read to the children who were ill. I really enjoyed this BC trip.”
