CHSG Breaks Exam Records Again

What a beginning to the new academic year!

What a beginning to the new academic year!

We started this year with our best ever A Level and GCSE results. Bucking the national trend in a number of key performance areas, we have again broken school records to continue the upward trend of improvement we have secured in recent years. As well as they key headlines which are displayed on the website, the government has just released a further set of national data for GCSE, Progress 8, which outlines the progress students are making at the school.  A zero figure outlines that students are making expected progress. The Progress 8 figure for CHSG is +0.25 which indicates that our students are making better than expected progress, on average a quarter of a grade higher than students in other schools.

It has also been an immensely exciting start with us gradually taking possession of our new building and works on other parts of the site nearing completion. The on-going works have not been without their challenges, but staff and students have been fantastic in overcoming some of the daily logistics of movement around the site and the need to de-camp to other rooms and areas of the school. However, it has certainly been worth it and we look forward to it all being competed in the not too distant future.

It has been a very busy start to the year with lots of activities going on and the transfer to high school season with our Open Evening, which was extremely well attended, the subsequent open mornings which were also very busy and needed to be extended due to high demand, and for the first time our scholarship assessment sessions for 24 places in Music and Sport for new Year 7 students in 2017.

We have also welcomed our new Year 7 students who have settled in well, as well as our new Year 12 students, many of who have joined us from other schools.

A brilliant start to the year and a truly exciting time for the school!
