Bar Mock Trial Competition

On Saturday 24th November students from Years 10 to 12 went to the Inner London Crown Court Sessions House to participate in the Bar Mock Trial competition.

The girls have been putting in hours of their own time over the past six weeks, learning witness statements off by heart, writing their own opening and closing speeches for their role as 'barristers,' learning the role of a court usher and court, and coming to an overall decision about guilty or not guilty verdicts as a jury.  They then performed in two cases at a Bar Mock Trial on Saturday.

The mock trials were presided over by real judges who gave the students lots of advice about getting into a career in law and some of the judges even passed sentence over our defendants!

Although we did not get through to the next round the girls did an amazing job and were a complete credit to the school, they behaved impeccably and worked so hard on the day. It was a pleasure for Mrs Greenland and I to accompany them.
