Parking Statement

Carshalton High School for Girls is entirely committed to improving the local environment by encouraging staff and students to use sustainable modes of transport whenever possible to limit the amount of traffic in our local area.

We have very limited parking onsite.  We recognise that this can therefore lead to members of the school community parking in local streets and we wish to alleviate the impact of this in any way we can. Please follow the advice given below to help us in this aim.

Advice to Visiting Parents and Carers:

We do not allow parents and carers to park or drop off their children in the school car park as it would lead to over congestion and health and safety risks. Parents and Carers are asked to drop their child away from the School, allowing them to walk the last few minutes.  This will avoid potential dangerous situations arising, the flow of traffic being disrupted and our neighbours’ being unable to access to their homes.

We expect parents / carers to always park considerately and avoid blocking driveways or roads.

Advice to Visitors on Open Evening:

Our Open Evening is very well attended by parents/carers and prospective students. Please note that parking is not available on the school site and we would advise that, out of consideration to our neighbours, you do not park in Green Wrythe Road, West Street and Brookfield Avenue.

We would strongly advise that you use public transport as the roads in and around the area of the School are heavily congested at this time. Disabled visitors with a Blue Badge may park on our schools grounds on Open Evening with prior agreement.

Advice to Staff/Students:

We recommend that all members of our school community travel to school using the most sustainable modes of transport possible. There are parking spaces allocated for staff in the school car park and a bike rack. We ask that any member of the school community who parks in the local area does so with respect to the needs of local residents, avoiding blocking drive ways or roads.  We ask that all staff and students provide the School with their vehicle registration and details in case a problem does arise.

Please do park on Wrythe Lane and avoid congestion-prone roads like Green Wrythe Road, West Street and Brookfield Avenue.

Advice to Local Residents:

As you can see above, we try to make every effort to avoid problems created by parking and congestion in the local area.

Should an issue arise that you suspect may be as a result of actions by a member of our school community, please feel free to contact the School to see if we have their vehicle registered with us in which case we will contact the owner.
