At Carshalton High School for Girls we believe the teaching of Design and Technology prepares pupils to participate in tomorrow's rapidly changing technologies, by learning to think creatively. In Product Design we aim to provide a creative and stimulating environment for our students to work in. Our classes are taught in purpose built workshops by teachers who all have industrial experience in their area of expertise.
The OCR Product Design course offers an opportunity to gain personal experience through working with a variety of resistant materials. The practical problem solving processes within this course encourages independent learning, creativity and innovation.
The two year course requires completion of a design and manufacture portfolio. ICT based technical drawing features heavily in all forms of design at this level. Students also complete a product case study and have external written examinations.
