Food Technology in the Sixth Form

Students who choose to study A Level Food Technology are expected to have achieved at least a grade C in GCSE Food Technology as well as a minimum of 5 A* - C grades in 5 different subjects.  Students will have to have a good understanding of Chemistry as this area of study links closely with food science.

This course suits students who enjoy a challenge. This course offers experimentation, Industrial knowledge, innovation and a chance to develop a broader view of design and Technology.  Students design and develop products and appreciate the complex relations between design, materials, manufacture and marketing.

Students need the ability to work with ICT experience from working with a variety of materials. The problem solving processes in the specification encourages independent learning,  creativity and innovation.

Students can follow a variety of career paths and a wide array of higher education courses in all areas of the food industry, Government bodies in relation to Food and Health, Health Inspection, Nutrition, Food Design and Teaching.
