April/May House News Update

One of the ways the students have done this is through ‘FREE YOUR FEET WEEK’.  This national scheme is designed to get young people active and walking to school.  Students had to count how many minutes they walked and then calculate how many calories they had burned. There were 2 house points up for grabs for every completed record sheet.  The entries have been flooding in and we will announce which house got most involved and also the overall winner of the £50 voucher in the next CHSG Newsletter!
The Houses have also been getting fruity!  To support walk to school week the Heads of House organised a whole lot of fruity fun by selling fruit kebabs and fruit cups. These were a sure fire hit and so will definitely be back in the near future.  We also held some fruit themed quizzes which many students took part in.  Well done to Rowling House for having the most entries and therefore earning the most house points!
The maths department have been supporting the House System by taking part in a national competition.  One hundred Year 7 and 8 students took part in a national ‘Maths Challenge’ on the 6th of May.  All the girls involved should be congratulated for their participation and for picking up those valuable House Points.
So what is next?........
Get ready for the Year 9 Inter House ‘Water Rocketeering Championship’ run by the Science department.  Students have been challenged to design and build their own rocket.  This event is taking place on the field during lunchtime on 30th June.  Students - come along and support your House.
The Inter-house debating competition is taking place next term with the chance to debate issues that are really important to you. If you think you are up for the challenge, then get talking and get involved by signing up in the LRC.  The final will take place on  13th July
Have a lovely half term break!
