Year 10 Update for Autumn Term

Since the beginning of October 30 of Year 10s keenest readers, identified by Mrs Devaney, Year Leader, and the English department, have been involved in a Paired Reading Project.
The Year 10 students have been working closely with a group of Year 7 students to encourage their enjoyment of books.
The project has been a massive success and Mr Tullett and Mrs Devaney have watched with delight as relationships between the students have blossomed. The Year 7 students are growing in confidence and discovering, sometimes for the first time, a real joy in reading for pleasure.
Each Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, during morning registration, each Year 10 student spends 20 minutes working with her designated Year 7 mentee.
The work can take the form of reading aloud, having a discussion about a particular book or even quizzing each other on their chosen book. The Year 7 students choose the book they wish to read but their choice is guided by their STAR Reading ZPD scores.
The project continues in the Spring term. IWelook forward to celebrating continued success with these wonderful students.
