Learning Skills Days - 20th-22nd June - Year 7
Learning Skills Days are here again!
From 20th - 22nd June the school timetable will be suspended so that students can be taught in faculty areas for whole days.
Days will be themed around ‘The Olympics - The Greatest Show on Earth’, during which students will experience deep learning tasks focussing on Personal Learning and Thinking Skills: self-management, team-working, reflective learning, creative thinking, effective participation and independent enquiry.
The programme for Year 7 will be:
Wednesday 20th June:
‘Welcoming the World to the Olympics’ with the MFL Faculty - students will create clothing and videos welcoming the world to London. Students need to be equipped with a white t-shirt or tea towel to use for this activity.
Thursday 21st June:
‘Jubilympic Celebration’ with the Technology department - students will design and create bunting or bath products designed for Olympic athletes and will use ICT to design and make packaging for their products.
Friday 22nd June:
‘World Records Challenge’ with the Arts Faculty - students will research and attempt to break their own records, incorporating a trip for some students to the Guildford Spectrum.
The timings of the school day will remain unaltered. Students need to come equipped for school and are to register as normal in the morning. Students will be expected to wear full school uniform as usual.
Students will engage in discussions in Tutor Time to promote reflection on their learning and evaluation of their learning experiences.
