'Your Future' Conference - Year 9
On Friday 6th January Year 9 students travelled to the University of Surrey for the 'Your Future' Conference.
The day started with a session from ‘Enlighten’ who helped the students realise that just by focussing more they can use both sides of their brain. They even learnt how to count in Arabic using the techniques taught to them.
They played the 'Money Doctors' game with ambassadors from the University of Roehampton. Students spend money on lots of different things and then were shown how easy it is to spend all the money without budgeting properly.
Students from St Mary’s University, Twickenham, talked to the students about university student life and how much there is to do.
The day ended with a tour of the University of Surrey and the students saw some of the accommodation on offer - including the shared kitchen and a mouldy lettuce!
