Drop-in Clinics for Students

Check it OutIn line with the previous Government’s and Ofsted guidance on best practice we have been looking at extending our onsite health services for students.  We already have a well established confidential ‘drop in’ service which is offered to students by our school nurse Monday lunchtimes.  The school nurse is able to provide support and advice on a range of health related issues, including healthy eating, smoking cessation, self-harming and friendship and relationship concerns.

Since January 2011 our school has also offered every Tuesday lunch time an enhanced ‘drop in’ service called the “Check it out clinic”. This clinic is only open to students in Year 9 – 13 and includes:

  • Sexual Health promotion and advice
  • Pregnancy testing
  • Pregnancy advice and discussion of options
  • Contraceptive advice and supplies, possibly including emergency contraception
  • Chlamydia testing

We are keen to seek the views of our Year 9 students' parents and carers, and answer any questions you may have about the clinic.  A meeting will be held at the school in the Learning Inclusion Centre on Thursday 22nd September 2011, 6.30pm – 7.30pm.

In order to give us an idea of how many parents wish to attend we would be grateful if you would respond by completing the tear off slip attached to the letter available for you to download here.  Please complete the slip below and ask your daughter to return it to Mrs Strong, Head’s PA or email sstrong@suttonmail.org.
