"Spotlight" - Inter-House Arts Festival (2)
The 6th of July saw the first ever final of our Inter–House Arts Festival. Students in each Year 7 class produced pieces of dance, drama and music. Teachers and students then decided which piece should go forward to represent the class. Then......Mrs Whitcomb, Ms Pridham and Mr Craig, as Curriculum Leaders, made the final selection as to who would make the final. It was a hard job because the standard of work was so high.
The evening concert was a real success with lots of parents and friends supporting. The audience obviously enjoyed the evening’s performances tremendously although the judges, Mrs Jones, Miss Holland and Miss Ingham- Brown could not be so relaxed as it was so difficult to arrive at final winners due once again to the quality of all the work.
Eventually the winners were:
- Rowling House won the Drama trophy
- Roddick House won the Dance trophy
- Holmes House won the Music trophy
- Roddick House won the Special Achievement trophy
All the winning groups were awarded medals and everyone who performed in the evening was awarded certificates.
The Festival just proved why The Expressive Arts Faculty has been awarded ArtsMark Gold for the third time. Our students are capable of producing work of the highest standards as a result of hard work and real creative ability.
"Spotlight was one of our fabulous inter-house competition when groups from dance, drama and music competed for trophies and medals. We got to share our performances with our friends and family. This was a chance to show our skills and talents in expressive arts. We had great fun in taking part i it." Wiktoria and Clentina, 7CEM
"The Spotlight show was a great experience, fun and I enjoyed the night very much. I acted in the show in a group that included: Ingrid, Mahreen, Lauren, Jessica, Cassie and Hannah. We all thought of a play together, made it better and then performed it on the night. My group and I won the Drama Trophy. I think the audience enjoyed themselves that night as much as me." Lily, 7SJH
Well done to all our Year 7 students and next year we hope to build on this year’s success and extend the Festival to include Year 8 students.
Mrs Whitcomb, Ms Pridham and Mr Craig
