Watersports Trip to Rockley Park, Poole
On the 29th March, 16 GCSE PE students went on a watersports trip to Rockley Park, Poole, Dorset.
We travelled there by coach, it took us around three hours to get there. When we arrived we were greeted by an instructor called Luke. We were shown around the lodge and to our rooms where we were able to unpack our belongings and 'dib' the beds. Luke gave us around 15 mins to do so, then we met all together and made our way down to the sailing school where we met our sailing instructors.
The instructors were called Olly, Jacob, Chris, James,Louisa and Louise - they spent the next three days teaching us everything about sailing. We were put into groups of around four and taken out on the water for the first time in sailing boats.
On the third day of sailing we were given a smaller boat between two of us, and we were expected to make our way around a set course on the water. We all got our Level 2 qualification.
For the rest of the week we did a variety of water sports activities, including paddle boarding, kayaking, canoeing, we got a trip on a catamaran, built rafts, and windsurfing.
On our last day, a portable rock climbing wall came to our lodge and we had three hours to do many different climbing activities. In the evening, the instructors organised a beach party for us, to say goodbye. We had a BBQ and played vollyball.
On the morning we left we all took our time to get up and made our way to breakfast as usual, we went to pick our bags and met everyone in the communal lounge to say our goodbyes. Many of the girls got a bit tearfull, but when we were all on the coach we were happy to be going home.
A big thank you to Miss Marshall and Miss Ridout for a great trip!
Abbie, 10CK and Italia, 10CE
