International Women's Day - Mufti (Friday 9th March)
Every year, Oxfam raises money to help women across the world. They call this International Women’s Day.
This year, students at Carshalton High School for Girls are also going to raise money for this event. A group of Year 11 students have been raising awareness and fundraising by planning a mufti day, cake sale and an assembly. One pupil wrote a poem about the event:

What It’s Like I have no education, I’m only fit to be a wife. But I have an aspiration, I want to lead a successful life. I want to be a star, And tell the world my tale; It doesn’t matter who you are, If you tried, at least you haven’t failed. To do this, I need money; Money you can give. Oxfam’s International Women’s Day Gives us all another chance to live. Thank you for supporting me, And others across the world. We all need to stick together, We know what it’s like to be a girl. |
So, what can YOU do to help? Simple, get involved! Wear Mufti on Friday 9th March. The theme is pink or dress up as an inspirational woman. Cakes are also being sold on Thursday 8th March. Lets help women worldwide!!
