Welcome to Carshalton High School for Girls Sixth Form
We provide the best possible opportunities for all students to
succeed in their chosen careers. The wide range of courses on offer
prepare students for Further and Higher Education and employment
this gives them the chance not only to exceed but excel. Because of
our extensive range of courses, most students can combine subjects
to match their individual needs.
Courses on offer include:
- AS and A2 Levels
- Intermediate GNVQs
- One-year GCSE Courses
We continually review the range of subjects on offer, to make sure
that our students' requirements are met. Whilst traditional academic
subjects such as Chemistry, Physics and French are well-catered for,
exciting new options are available such as Psychology, Physical
Education, Business, Media Studies, Photography and Music.
Choosing the right Sixth Form course and where you will study for
the next two or three years is an important step to take. However,
Sixth Form students often join us from other schools and they are
welcomed and consistently achieve impressive success at
Carshalton High School for Girls.
The best way to make the right decision for your future is to:
- Attend our Sixth Form Promotion Evening in November
- Explore the many opportunities available in our Sixth Form by
talking to the students themselves.
- Discuss your subject options and course requirements in detail
with your teachers and your parents
- Once you have done so, you will then know why Carshalton High
School for Girls is the first choice for success.

One year Intermediate courses are suitable for students who get
mostly D and E grades at GCSE. After successfully completing a one
year course, you can go onto a two-year Advanced course or leave
school and start job training. You can study only one Intermediate
course. If you do not get at least a C in Mathematics or English you
can also re-take these GCSEs, GCSE Astronomy is also available as
is Sports Leadership.
Two year Advanced courses are for those students who get at least
5 C grades or better at GCSE, or who have successfully completed
the one year Intermediate GNVQ. You would normally study 4 subjects
in the first year, dropping one subject when entering year 13.
