Sixth Form - BTEC Level 2 Courses

BTEC First Diplomas (Level 2)

From September 2007, the Vocational Department are offering a range of BTEC Level 2 qualifications. These are all one year courses in the sixth form and are aimed at those students whose GCSE grades are below 5A*-C grades. These courses give the student the opportunity to develop a wide range of skills for progression onto A levels, college or employment. Many of the skills relate to the subject they are studying, others are general work related skills needed in the workplace.

The BTEC First Diploma is a 6-unit course and is equivalent to 4 GCSE's at A*-C, it is being offered in the following subjects:

  • Business
  • Health and Social Care
  • Travel and Tourism

5 units of work are internally assessed and one is externally examined. You can only choose one of the subjects, as these courses are a one-year full time course and can be combined with a re-sit in English and Maths GCSE.

BTEC Qualifications are suitable for a wide range of learners, students who enjoy hands on, practical work with plenty of real life situations and a work experience linked to their course tend to find great success in BTEC Qualifications. BTEC qualifications are understood and recognised by employers.

If you would like more information on these courses ask to speak to Ms Salvidge.
