Sixth Form - BTEC Level 2 Courses
BTEC First Diplomas (Level 2)
From September 2007, the Vocational Department are offering a
range of BTEC Level 2 qualifications. These are all one year courses
in the sixth form and are aimed at those students whose GCSE
grades are below 5A*-C grades. These courses give the student the
opportunity to develop a wide range of skills for progression onto A
levels, college or employment. Many of the skills relate to the subject
they are studying, others are general work related skills needed in
the workplace.
The BTEC First Diploma is a 6-unit course and is equivalent to 4
GCSE's at A*-C, it is being offered in the following subjects:
- Business
- Health and Social Care
- Travel and Tourism
5 units of work are internally assessed and one is externally
examined. You can only choose one of the subjects, as these courses
are a one-year full time course and can be combined with a re-sit in
English and Maths GCSE.
BTEC Qualifications are suitable for a wide range of learners,
students who enjoy hands on, practical work with plenty of real life
situations and a work experience linked to their course tend to find
great success in BTEC Qualifications. BTEC qualifications are
understood and recognised by employers.
