The French Department
In French the course book used is Équipe 1-4.
By the end of Year 7 students will have covered how to:
- Greet others, introduce themselves and ask others about themselves in the Target language. Learn simple facts about the French speaking country.
- Describe Family members and pets, name, age and colour of pets.
- Describe what they learn at school and when, give opinions of school subjects and to ask to borrow school items.
- Talk about the sports and hobbies they do and which sports and hobbies they like and dislike with reasons for their answers. List the places in town. Say what they do at the weekend and what they did last weekend.
- Talk about food and drink in France. To say what they eat and drink for different meals and say what they like, dislike and don’t eat. To be able to order food and drink in a café and to buy items of food.
By the end of Year 8 students will have covered how to:
- Describe their clothes and give opinions on them.
- Describe their favourite television programme and invite someone to the cinema.
- Arrange to do something, give excuses and talk about what they did last weekend.
- Describe their daily routine and their household chores.
- Talk about celebrating special occasions and favourite celebrations.
- Talk about their holidays, how they went and where, for how long.
By the end of Year 9 students will have covered how to:
- Give information about themselves and family.
- Talk about different types of music.
- Talk about food, an exchange to France.
- Describe their town and what is environmentally friendly.
- Describe their town.
