Under 15s Football v Cheam High (H)

Carshalton High School for Girls vs Cheam High School football fixture 29th September 2011 :: 3-3

The Year 9/10 team secured an impressive draw in their first league fixture of the year especially since our girls had only 10 players.

The team captained by Emily Stanley were unlucky to go a goal down when the force of the shot simply meant Megan Jenkins in goal had to step back to maintain her balance.  CHSG went 2-0 down just before half time.

A number of positional changes happened at half time to combat the extra player Cheam High had. Lauren Carpenter provided height and strength to put real pressure on the Cheam High back four and was rewarded with her goal.  Emily, Lauren and Molly Greenaway proved a real force as they took the game to Cheam.  CHSG pulled the game level at 2 – 2, only for us to concede a third which Holly Leonhardt, now in goal for the second half, could do little about.  Apart from this goal our defence of Becky Taylor, Megan Jenkins, Jiraporn Phuttisen and Charlotte Bernard held firm.  Aaliyah Hilton and Katie ‘Kas’ Davis offered great support play to our attacking players. Emily picked up her second goal as she forced the equaliser to make it 3-3. Momentum was with CHSG and Emily was unlucky not to secure a winner as her free kick flew narrowly over the bar.

The draw felt like a win and we now look forward to our next league game on Thursday 13th October against Greenshaw High School.
